GW Hospital is a 385 bed Level 1 Trauma Center, Academic Medical Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center, and offers an 18 bed Level III B Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for our tiniest patients. The dedicated NICU team includes neonatologists, residents, respiratory therapists, neonatal nurses, nutritionists, social work, occupational therapy, speech pathology, and lactation consultants who all work collaboratively to provide optimal care for the neonate. Position SummaryThe NICU OT Clinical Specialist will be responsible for programmatic development and quality improvement initiatives related to care of the neonate. This individual works closely with the nursing education specialist for ongoing mentorship and training for all NICU staff. The NICU OT Clinical Specialist will ensure best-practice approaches to care in this setting, collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders including physicians, nurses, nutritionists, lactation consultants, speech language pathology, and those departments' respective leadership.The NICU OT Clinical Specialist is a member of the rehab department leadership team and may be responsible for the supervision and oversight of staff clinicians, ensuring their mentorship, development, and compliance with departmental guidelines, and may be involved in the interviewing and selection of new hires.The NICU OT Clinical Specialist will collaborate with leadership on patient care dashboards and other areas of data analysis and performance improvement for outcome maximization.
