About the Office of Judicial Administration :

The Office of Judicial Administration is responsible for the efficient administration of all agencies that operate under the direction of the Chief Justice and the Supreme Court. That includes 200 personnel; fiscal management; communication; technology; legal services; intergovernmental relations; services for the trial courts; and support for court boards, commissions, and committees. The Office is headed by Chief Administrative Officer Justin P. Forkner, who reports directly to the Chief Justice of Indiana and serves as the link between the Chief Justice and the agencies of the Court.

 

Salary Statement :

The salary for this position is 15.12/hour.

About the Job:

The Indiana Supreme Court Office of Communication, Education, and Outreach has an opening for a 2025 law library communication assistant intern starting August of 2025. Interested juniors, first-semester seniors, and graduate students enrolled in library science, communication, public administration, or other related degree programs through an Indiana college or university are encouraged to apply.

A Day in the Life:

Intern responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Using organizational skills to assist with law library tasks such as filing pocket parts and looseleaf updates, circulation, distribution, reference, and front desk duties 
  • Managing library data and statistics with Microsoft Excel 
  • Using Microsoft Office programs to assist with writing and fact-checking judicial branch press releases and other distributed information
  • Employing strong critical thinking and writing skills to contribute articles to Indiana Court Times
  • Assisting with logistics for outreach events, potentially including travel subject to the intern’s schedule and availability
  • Actively participating in OCEO team meetings using video-conferencing programs (e.g., Zoom and Microsoft Teams)

What You'll Need for Success:

Overall, the intern will work in a supporting role to all OCEO initiatives. This internship is geared toward a student who is interested in learning about government service, communication, librarianship, and outreach.
If interns have experience using InDesign and the rest of the Adobe Suite, they may be asked to assist with design projects. 

 

This position has the potential to interact with justices, judges, government personnel, students, teachers, court staff, and the public, so interns must present themselves in a professional and friendly manner at all times. The intern will be required to work at both the administrative building and the Law Library at the State House, which means travelling a distance of a few city blocks.
