Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Instructional Support Assistant to join our team. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with teachers, support students in their learning, and help create a positive and inclusive classroom environment. You will play an integral role in fostering academic, social, and emotional growth while contributing to a vibrant, supportive school culture.
Key Responsibilities:
Partner with lead teachers to create a supportive, engaging learning environment for students.
Assist with the delivery of lesson plans and reinforce learning through one-on-one and small group instruction.
Support students in staying on task and maintaining appropriate behavior through consistent enforcement of school and classroom routines.
Help maintain accurate records and track students' progress.
Lead small group and individual instruction using evidence-based strategies to address students' specific learning needs.
Work with special education staff to implement accommodations and supports for students.
Communicate effectively with families and contribute to team/parent meetings as needed.
Assist in supervising student groups during activities like lunch, recess, and transitions.
Support classroom management tasks, such as preparing materials and maintaining a positive classroom environment.
Participate in ongoing professional development sessions and use feedback to continually improve instructional practices.
Qualifications:
Required:
At least 2 years of college education.
Experience working with children in an educational setting.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Strong communication skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Flexibility and comfort working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood, Elementary, ESL, or Special Education.
Bilingual in Spanish, Haitian Creole, or Cape Verdean Creole.
Experience with instructional support or working with students with diverse learning needs.
